about

J Dilla has inspired both 20/20 and Mic Flo through his music. As fans they loved his music. As artists they loved the musical landscapes that he provided. What started as 1 track evolved into several without premonition. Both Mike, and Ike, decided that they would record their favorites out of their love for the art, out of respect and appreciation for the work of the late great J Dilla, and to keep the new generation of the Hip Hop culture fresh and aware of the impact that J Dilla has had on so many. Aware that many would try to capitalize on the attention that the passing of Dilla commanded, and on the disrespect that it could potentially bring towards his legacy and his family, the two emcees decided to simply share the music with close friends and family. A friend in Washington D.C., who was also a fan of both Mike and Ike and the late J Dilla, created the artwork out of a shared inspiration. The work, which captures the two emcees over some of their favorite J Dilla productions is still unavailable for download or purchase, but you can listen to the material here at Band Camp. R.I.P.
